What is the difference between a silicone and a plastic case?

A silicone case is soft and flexible, and it absorbs impact well. It grips in the hand, but it collects dust and yellows over time. A hard plastic (PC) case is thin and easy to keep clean, but it does not give under impact. For most people a TPU or hybrid case is the better compromise — it combines both.

How do I choose the right case?

Choose for the way you actually use the phone: if you drop it often, take a rugged case; if you want to keep the phone slim, TPU or silicone is enough; if you want to carry cards, pick a wallet case. Above all, check that the case is made for your exact phone model.

Does a case protect against drops?

Yes, though how much depends on the type. A thin silicone case keeps scratches away and helps with low falls. Rugged cases such as UAG or Spigen Tough Armor are drop-tested from 2–3 metres and give the most protection.

Why does a clear silicone case turn yellow?

UV light and the natural oils on your skin cause it. It is normal and cannot be prevented entirely. Tip: a darker colour or a clear TPU case yellows far less visibly.

Description

Speck Presidio Perfect Clear protects Apple iPhone 17 Pro without hiding its design. The two-layer Impactium Shock Barrier construction disperses and absorbs impact in drops of up to 4 metres, while raised screen and camera edges help prevent scratches on flat surfaces.

The built-in magnetic ring keeps MagSafe chargers and accessories aligned. A UV-resistant coating helps the transparent material resist yellowing, and antimicrobial treatment helps keep the case surface cleaner. The case supports Qi wireless charging.
